It was more than just thinking about the technology. Thinking about needs of user, pain points, and interaction with devices was an essential process of interaction design.

This is where we can reach only if we can communicate effectively. The better process of letting teammates remember what was discussed leads to an invaluable essence of creativity.

Here It is!

Our team designed a interactive product for enhancing communication of people who live in a poor area(쪽방촌). We were inspired by a story that a yogurt women in Korea saved one's life in the poor area. She was worried that two yogurts she delivered were never taken for several days. She reported this to the rescue authority and finally saved the life of an old man who was completely exhausted with extremely hot weather in a subdivided flat(쪽방).

This product is called 요마음, which can be translated into “Yogurt + Heart". We intended to design a simple way for digitally excluded elders to communicate with each other. Depending on the number of 'touches' a user initiates toward the device, users can send various colours to each other accordingly where each can mean different messages. When the interaction happens simultaneously, 요마음 shows a rainbow colour to celebrate it. Inspired by the touching story, 요마음 visually incorporates the Korean yogurt drink product. In the era of the Digital Divide, we hope this idea to shed light on the issues of alienation, indifference, and inequality.
